11 Perfect Mixed Drinks With Ginger Ale That You Need To Try

Do you love mixed drinks with ginger ale? I do, too, especially if the ginger ale complements well with the other great spirits in the mixed drink. Ginger ale is a ginger-flavored carbonated soft drink, which is often very sweet and popular in drink recipes.

The key to creating the perfect mixed drinks lie in the compatibility of ingredients. All ingredients should be accurately measured so you get to taste each of everything.

If you’re short of ideas on what to serve for your next cocktail party, here are some mixed drink recipes that you can try at home.

Absolut suggests making a mandarin punch with these ingredients:

  • 2 ounces ginger ale
  • 2 ounces Absolut Mandarin
  • 1 1/2 ounces pineapple juice

Absolut Mandarin is an orange-flavored vodka which gives a dominant mandarin and citrus flavor to your punch. Unlike any other flavored vodkas, this brand doesn’t constitute any added sugar. If you want convenience, you can choose pineapple juice sold in cans.

To do this recipe, just add all the ingredients into an ice cube-filled highball glass and garnish it with a wedge lemon and wheel lime. If you don’t know how to create a wheel a lime, you can watch how it’s done in this video.

If you would like to make an imitation of whiskey without the alcohol, you can do this wonderful mock whiskey recipe. All you need are these ingredients:

  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • Ginger ale
  • 1 wedge lime, for garnish

In a rocks glass, fill it with ice cubes. Then, using a citrus juices, squeeze some lime juice and pour it into the rocks glass. Top the mix with ginger ale and garnish with a wedge lime.

It is ideal to juice your lime to get the best of its aroma, acid, and flavor. To get more juice as possible, press it down on a surface and roll it between your palms. You can also let the lime juice sit for another four hours to get a better taste.

If you love tequila, you can take it up a notch by making the Border Crossing recipe. Here are the ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 parts tequila
  • 1 part lime juice
  • 1/2 part honey
  • 4 dashes orange bitters
  • Ginger ale
  • 2 whole blueberries and a slice lime, for garnish

In a shaker, fill it with ice cubes, then some freshly squeezed lime juice, honey, and orange bitters. Shake it with all your might and strain into a chilled wine glass. Top up with ginger ale and garnish with blueberries and a slice of lime.

For this recipe, you can use any tequila you want, but I prefer to use the Gold type because it’s less expensive. You might notice of its gold color, but actually, most of it comes from the caramel coloring added. This is especially true for brands that don’t mark themselves as “100% agave”.

Make your apple juice more interesting by spicing it up with ginger ale. To be specific, here are the ingredients that you need:

  • 6 ounces apple juice
  • 2 ounces ginger ale
  • 1 ounce cranberry juice
  • 1 orange slice, for garnish

In a highball glass, fill it with crushed ice. Add all ingredients except for the garnish and stir with a cocktail spoon or any long spoon you have. Garnish with an orange slice.

If you would like an upbeat version of your spiced apple, you can substitute cranberry juice with an ounce of rum. I usually do this when I like to taste a kick of alcohol in my spiced apple.

For those who want whiskey in their cocktail drinks, then the Amber Dream is a great combination for you. It only needs these following ingredients:

  • 2 parts whiskey
  • 1 1/2 parts peppermint schnapps
  • 10 parts ginger ale

In an ice-filled highball glass, add whiskey and peppermint schnapps. Top up with ginger ale and serve. For a nice summer beverage, chill your ingredients before mixing.

In selecting for the best type of whiskey for your drink, choose one that belongs to the place where you live. For instance, if you live in the United States, try any brands of bourbon or if you reside somewhere in Canada, try scotch. In this way, you’ll be able to find quality bottles at affordable prices. On the other hand, peppermint schnapps is an alcoholic beverage that has a peppermint flavor.

If you want a strong combination of ingredients, then you get to try a glass of Suffering Bastard. Here are the ingredients that you need to prepare:

  • 2 ounces rum
  • 2 ounces gin
  • 2 ounces ginger ale
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • 2 dashes bitters
  • Sprig of mint, for garnish

To make this first, scoop some ice cubes into a highball glass. Next, add the bitters, ginger ale, rum, lime juice, and gin. You can garnish this drink with a sprig and mint.

This drink was made by the Shepheard Hotel’s Long Bar steward Joe Scialom in the late 1940s. This was intended to be a hangover cure but now it is presented as one of the 3-part series of drinks at the Rongovian Embassy that will leave you knocked out for good. The other two drinks included in the series are the Dying Bastard( #7) and Dead Bastard (#8).

Aside from the Suffering Bastard, Joe Scialom also made the Dying Bastard. In this recipe, brandy is added into the mix. Here are the proper ingredients:

  • 2 ounces brandy
  • 2 ounces rum
  • 2 ounces gin
  • 2 ounces ginger ale
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • 2 dashes bitters

Lime wheel, for garnishIn an ice cube-filled highball glass, pour the bitters, brandy, ginger ale, rum, fresh lime juice, and gin. You can garnish it with one lime wheel if you prefer.

For the brandy, I prefer to use a cheaper brand as its taste would disappear among the rest of the ingredients. One particular brand that I use is the Gautier Cognac VSOP which has a slight aroma of vanilla, citrus fruits, and apple.

To complete the deadly trio of Joe Scialom, the Dead Bastard adds bourbon whiskey into the mix. According to the comment made by recipe contributor John Lara at Bar None Drinks, only a few people have completed the series and made their way into their car properly. More often than not, you’ll end up somewhere else as you wake up.

Here are the ingredients of this recipe:

  • 2 ounces bourbon whiskey
  • 2 ounces brandy
  • 2 ounces rum
  • 2 ounces gin
  • 2 ounces ginger ale
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • 2 dashes bitters
  • 1 mint leaf, for garnish

Fill your highball glass with ice cubes. Next, add the bourbon whiskey, brandy, rum, gin, bitters, and lime juice, and ginger ale. Stir and garnish with a mint leaf for garnish.

I preferably use a light rum for this specific recipe because the combination of four spirits- brandy, rum, gin, and bourbon whiskey- is too strong to handle. It is also best to use the fresh lime juice rather than the canned or bottled ones because it makes the drink more vibrant.

Add a refreshing twist on your mojito by adding some ginger ale. Here are the specific ingredients:

  • 6 ounces spiced rum
  • 1 1/2 ounce simple syrup
  • 1 splash ginger ale
  • 6 mint leaves
  • 1 lime

With a cocktail muddler or the handle of a rolling pin, mash simple syrup, mint, and lime juice in your cocktail shaker. Never over-muddle the mint or you’ll mix the bitter-flavored chlorophyll into your drink. You can see how the muddling is done in this video here.

Next, pour the spiced rum and crushed ice and shake the mixture vigorously for about 10 seconds. In your highball glass, strain the mixed drink and top up with ginger ale.

You might think that the ginger snap is reserved for the ladies because of its delicate name, but honestly, this packs a punch. Lea & Perrins suggests using ginger beer in substitute for ginger ale. Here are the ingredients that you need to prepare:

  • 2 parts black strap rum
  • 1 part cinnamon schnapps
  • 4 parts ginger ale
  • Lime wedges, for garnish

In a chilled highball glass or any glass you want, pour black strap rum, cinnamon schnapps, and ginger ale. Using a cocktail spoon, stir to mix well. To serve, you can garnish this drink with lime wedges.

This cream soda cocktail drink is tasty and refreshing. If you use a diet ginger ale, then this drink could be low in calories. Here are the ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 parts vanilla vodka
  • 5 parts ginger ale

In a chilled tall glass of your choice, pour the vanilla vodka and ginger ale. Stir, serve and enjoy.

Ginger ale is responsible for the taste of this drink. If you want to make it sweeter, then add more. If you want a cherry cream soda, consider adding some maraschino cherries as garnish.
